Individual Clinical
Supervision.
A dedicated professional space to reflect
on your clinical work, deepen your
understanding and strengthen

early-career practitioners and

Sessions are guided by your professional
responsibilities, clinical concerns,
stage of development and learning goals.
01 / Individual Supervision
Thoughtful supervision.
Focused on your work.
Individual clinical supervision is a
structured professional relationship
between a supervisee and an
appropriately qualified supervisor.
It provides an opportunity to reflect
on client presentations, clinical
decisions, therapeutic relationships,
ethical responsibilities and
the broader context of practice.
Individual supervision can also
support practitioner wellbeing,
professional identity, continued
learning and awareness of
professional scope and limitations.
Supervision differs from personal
counselling, training alone or
employment performance review.
An appropriate supervision agreement
and confidentiality boundaries
are important.

Who is individual supervision for?
Students, counsellors, psychotherapists
and other eligible helping professionals
may benefit from individual supervision.
Suitability depends on their role
and professional requirements.
What should I bring to supervision?
You may bring de-identified client work,
ethical questions, professional concerns
and areas for reflection.
Client confidentiality must be maintained.
What are the minimum annual supervision
hours for ACA and PACFA members?
Annual minimums vary by professional
association, registration category
and client-contact hours.
| Membership | Annual minimum |
|---|---|
| ACA Level 1 | 10 hours |
| ACA Level 2 | 10 hours |
| ACA Level 3 | 10 hours |
| ACA Level 4 | 10 hours |
| PACFA Certified Practising | 10–15 hours |
| PACFA Registered Clinical | 10–15 hours |
| PACFA Certified Supervisor | 15 hours |
| Student / Placement | Course-specific |
ACA practising Levels 1–4 generally
require 10 hours each membership year.
PACFA’s 10–15 hour requirement varies
with annual client-contact hours.
Additional requirements may apply.
Always confirm the latest standards
for your membership category.
Do I need individual supervision
to upgrade to PACFA Registered Clinical?
The PACFA Registered Clinical pathway
includes at least 75 hours of
post-qualification supervision,
with at least 50% of the
required hours undertaken
as individual supervision.
This is separate from annual
supervision minimums and
subject to other eligibility criteria.
Can group supervision replace
individual supervision?
Not always. Some registration
pathways require a minimum
proportion of individual supervision.
PACFA generally recognises groups
of 2–6 supervisees; eligible
ACA arrangements may include
up to 10 supervisees per supervisor.
Will every supervision session count
towards my association’s requirements?
Not automatically. Acceptance depends
on supervisor eligibility, format,
documentation and your membership
category. Confirm requirements
before booking.
Where can I verify the latest
ACA and PACFA requirements?
Visit the official
ACA website
and
PACFA website
for the current supervision standards.
Can I pay a deposit?
